20 Inch ABS PC Carry On Luggage, Airline Approved, TSA Lock, Front Compartment – Dark Green – Review

Dark green carry on luggage with front compartment

Day 1: First Impressions

The box showed up on my porch looking like it had a minor disagreement with the delivery truck—one corner was totally crushed. I opened it up expecting the worst, but the suitcase itself was wrapped in enough plastic and cardboard to survive a fall. First thing I noticed was the color. The photos online made it look like a forest green, but in person it’s more of a deep, almost military green. I actually like it better. It doesn’t scream “new luggage” and seems like it could hide scuffs well.

Unzipping it, there was that classic new plastic smell, but it wasn’t overwhelming. The shell feels solid, not flimsy, with a nice matte finish. The zippers move smoothly, and the TSA lock has a satisfying click. The front compartment is what sold me initially, and opening it felt like the main event. It’s roomy enough for a 15-inch laptop, a tablet, and some files. My cat immediately decided the empty suitcase was her new throne, so that was the real unboxing experience. I wheeled it around my hardwood floor for a minute—the spinner wheels are dead silent, which is weirdly impressive. So far, so good. My main worry was the handle; it feels a bit lightweight when fully extended, but time will tell.

Week 1: The Adjustment Phase

Okay, so my first trip with it was a three-day work conference. I was packing, and I realized I have a weird habit of overpacking for short trips. This bag forced me to be strategic. The main compartment is a standard clamshell design, which is fine. The front compartment is where this bag starts to earn its keep. Being able to slide my laptop and charger in there without opening the whole thing is a legit game-saver at airport security. I shouldve practiced the TSA lock combo more, though—I fumbled with it at 4:30 AM and felt like a fool.

The trip itself was… a test. The airline overhead bins were packed, and I had to shove it in with some force. The shell held up, no cracks or creaks. The wheels handled the terrible airport carpet like champs. But here’s where the mild doubt crept in: the telescopic handle has a very slight wobble when fully extended and fully loaded. It’s not unstable, but you can feel it. It didn’t break, but it made me wonder about long-term durability. Also, that week was when my office decided to repaint the hallway, so everything in my life smelled vaguely of latex, not just new suitcase.

Week 2-3: Starting to Notice

Fast forward to a weekend trip to see my parents. By now, the “newness” has worn off and it’s just my go-to bag. The subtle things became more apparent. The protective bumper feet on the sides are genius. I’ve checked it twice now (against my better judgment for a carry-on, but the flight was full), and there are zero scratches on the sides where it would rub against other bags. The dark green color is perfect for hiding dirt from being wheeled across a rainy parking lot.

The front compartment’s organization is simple—just a few slip pockets and a mesh divider—but that’s all I need. I don’t have to dig for my boarding pass or headphones. I also started to appreciate how lightweight the empty bag is. Compared to my old clunky roller, it makes a difference when you’re already lugging around a heavy personal item. Week 2 was also when my neighbor’s dog wouldn’t stop barking at 6am, so I was already grumpy, but even in that state, I had to admit packing was less of a chore with this thing. The silent wheels are still a quiet victory in crowded terminals.

Month 1: The Real Results

Alright, a month and four trips later. Here’s the honest assessment. What changed? My packing efficiency, for one. I’ve gotten used to the space and can pack for a week if I’m smart about it. The bag has held up physically better than I expected after that first handle wobble scare. No issues with the zippers, the lock still works perfectly, and the wheels spin as freely as day one. The shell has a few very fine surface scuffs, but you have to look for them. It doesn’t look beat up at all.

What didn’t change? The handle still has that same slight wobble. It hasn’t gotten worse, but it hasn’t magically tightened up either. I’ve learned to live with it. It’s a minor quirk in an otherwise solid performer. The interior lining is a bit basic—just plain polyester—but it’s not like I’m staring at it. After a cross-country red-eye where I was zombie-walking through O’Hare, I was genuinely thankful for how easy it was to maneuver. That’s the real result: it’s a reliable, no-nonsense piece of travel gear that does its job well without fuss.

Would I Repurchase?

Yes. For the price, it’s a solid workhorse. The front compartment is the star feature that I now depend on, the size is perfect for avoiding checked bag fees, and it’s tough enough for regular use. If the handle were rock-solid, it’d be a 10/10. As it is, it’s a reliable 8.5/10 that makes traveling a little less annoying, and that’s a win in my book.
